What main languages are spoken here?:

German (Deutsch)

Here are a few words:

Hallo - Hello

Guten Morgen - Good morning

Danke! - Thank you

Bitte! - Please or You're welcome

What type of money is used here?:

In Germany, people use the Euro as their currency. Instead of dollars and cents as we use in the United States, people here pay with euros or euro cents. Euro coins and bills come in different sizes and values. The Euro is used in many other European countries. This makes traveling between countries easier, so you don't have to exchange your money when crossing a border.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

Depending on where you get your water in Germany can vary tremendously. One of the main things that surprised me while moving to Germany was that a glass of water isn't free when going out to a restaurant to eat. At restaurants and cafes, you usually have to pay for water, and it can cost about as much as a soda. Which could be around 3-5 Euros.  They typically will serve you sparkling water unless specified otherwise, and you will still have to pay for the tap water. It is something small, but something I found very interesting to learn while living in another country.
