All About Tacos

Introduction:

Tacos are everywhere in Mexico, from stand-alone restaurants, called taqerías, to pop-up tents on the street. Tacos have a rich history in Mexico, with some historians saying the creation of the taco occurred before the Spanish arrival and involved the use of fish instead of meat. Other historians argue that tacos were created in the 18th century by silver miners. Regardless, the taco is a delicious two-bite meal packed with flavor and nutrients.

What food did I try?:

There are many varieties of tacos, and I want to try them all while I'm in Mexico! From tacos al pastor (shepherd-style) to suadero to the more exotic lengua (tongue), there's a taco for everyone. In my case, I tried tacos al pastor and suadero.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Finally having the chance to try real, authentic tacos is a life-changing experience full of flavor! In the United States, we're used to seeing tacos served with tomato, lettuce, sour cream and cheese, which is not the case in Mexico. Everything is cooked fresh and fast.

How is the food prepared?:

Depending on the meat used in the taco, the preparation can be different.
