Join me as I ask my host mom's nine-year-old grandson some questions about what it's like to be a kid in Costa Rica!
For breakfast, I usually eat gallo pinto, a traditional Costa Rican dish of rice and beans with fried plantains. For lunch, I usually eat soup with meat that's cooked by my mom, grandma or the cook at school. If I have soccer practice after school, I might eat a hamburger for dinner, and if not, I'll have rice with a fried egg which is my favorite food!
I live with my mom, dad, 15-year-old brother, two dogs and one cat. My house has a kitchen, living room, bathroom, hallway and separate bedrooms for me, my brother and my parents. In my house, I have a TV and a washing machine and a dryer (which is uncommon here). My grandma is my neighbor, so I like to spend time there with her and Shio.
If my mom is working, my brother and I help clean the house. If she isn't, I am in charge of cleaning my room, the hallway and the living room while my brother is in charge of his room and sweeping. My brother eats and sleeps more than anything else.
