I made three journeys over the last week. First, I spent the previous weekend in Salamanca, a town in central Spain. Salamanca is about 200 miles from Oviedo. Second, I made my daily trip to Pola de Siero for work, which is 10 miles away. Third, after walking 3.5 miles on the Senda del Oso hiking trail, I ended my Friday trip in the small town of Proaza. Proaza is 15 miles from my home in Oviedo!
The exact miles are hard to count! Since my departure from Virginia in early September, I would estimate that I have traveled 4,500 miles. I am sure there are many more still to come this fall!
This week, I alternated between walking and riding the bus. I take the bus from my home city of Oviedo to the nearby town Pola de Siero to teach English. I make this bus ride Monday through Thursday. Other than that bus, I walk everywhere -- to the grocery store, to the gym, to see my friends and to tutor students here in town!
