Trains, trains and more trains

Introduction:

There are lots of ways to travel in Spain - buses, trains, planes, cars, bikes and by foot. When I'm traveling from home to a restaurant, the gym or an event downtown, I usually walk. It takes about 30 minutes, and I like having the time outside. However, when it comes to the University, I always take the train because the campus is located a ways outside of the city.

How do people get around?:

People in Spain (like in much of Europe) use trains as a major means of transportation. There are different types of trains depending on how far you want to travel including the metro (or subway) (used to get to work in the city), regional trains (used to travel between nearby towns), national trains (used to traverse the country), and international trains (used to travel throughout Europe). Most trains have a snack car in them, and you can choose if you want to sit in the quiet car (which means whispers, only!)

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I love taking the train. A few of my favorite reasons for this are that you can watch the countryside out the window; you have more space than you would riding on a bus; and you can read, nap or chat with your travel buddy easily without having to focus on where you are going like when you're driving.
