Spicy or Sweet? South Korea has Both!

I have eaten cakes, ice cream and cookies, all made from yummy and sweet Dubai chocolate.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Some foods I ate at home before coming to South Korea and some of them were new. When I ate Dubai chocolate, I thought it would taste like chocolate. No! It is actually pistachio. I would not recommend it if you are allergic to nuts.

Some foods also looked strange. For example, one meal I was given was grilled pig skin. That does not sound good to me. I did not want to eat it. Another was black beans in my dessert. Black beans do not sound sweet to me. I did not want to try some of these meals, but I was curious. Why did people eat it? Why did they like it so much? I wanted to know, so I tried it. Some of them tasted good, and some did not. I was happy I tried it instead of saying no and missing the many tastes of Korea.

How is the food prepared?:

South Korea is very proud of its meals. When I go to restaurants, I can see the chefs and cooks making my meal in open kitchens. Some of them even prepare the food right in front of you. Korean BBQ is also very popular. When you sit down at a Korean BBQ restaurant, you can grill any meat you want, however you like it. The meat is raw, and there is a very hot grill on the table. You can add any spices, seasonings, or sauces however you want. I am not very good at grilling, so I always have someone help who is better at grilling all our meals.

Hot pots are also very popular. In a hot pot, you get to create your own soup at your table. The restaurant gives you all the ingredients, and you can make a soup however you want. In South Korea, many people eat at home and prepare their own meals with their families.
