Taiwan is a food heaven because food, here, is cheap, convenient and so tasty! People literally cook right out of their own kitchens and sell food along the side of the road at an afforable price. I love grabbing quick bites, this way, such as green onion pancakes, baos (buns) and dumplings. Since Taiwan is so hot, there are also many fruit and drink stands as well. Some food stands come together at certain hours to sell food: these are the night markets that you may think of when Taiwan comes to mind. Night markets highlight the food culture and lively outdoor community ethic of Taiwanese life. Of course, I love visiting convenience stores like 7/11 and FamiyMart for quick snacks and light meals, as well.
This week, I snorkeled with turtles on a small island south of where I live. The skies were blue, and the sun was shining. After snorkeling, my friends and I ordered shaved snow ice, which was served straight out of a coral shell! The shaved snow ice was special because, aside from the regular fruit flavors, there was also seaweed shaved ice. We ordered mulberry, boba milk tea, mango and pineapple seaweed shaved snow ice to share among the seven of us. It was the perfect way to relax after our swim!
