Living abroad has been an amazing experience that has brought many challenges, including learning things that I never imagined I would need to learn. Part of that learning process has been trying foods from each of the regions that I have visited. In this field note, I'll be telling you all about couscous, which is a very popular food in Morocco.
This week I visited Morocco, a country in Northern Africa located quite close to Spain's southern border. I tried couscous, which is a popular Moroccan food made of semolina (wheat that is ground into very small granules and tastes like pasta ) and served with mixed vegetables and a meat, usually chicken, beef or lamb. It was delicious! I liked it so much that I had it again the next day. I chose to have beef with the couscous.
I was nervous because I had never traveled to Africa, nor had I tried any Moroccan food. I will just say that I closed my eyes to savour the flavors and enjoy the moment. It was amazing!
