Something else cool that I have seen a lot lately is the huge flowers that grow out of Lesotho aloe plants (aloe is a kind of cactus--you might know it because it is sometimes used in sunburn lotion!). These flowers are actually called "death blooms" because they only grow right before the plants die. The flowers help spread seeds before the plants’ deaths. Death blooms don't happen very often, though, because the plants can live to be 30 years old! These death blooms can be as large and tall as trees.
