Travel News

Sometimes, if I don't feel like walking to the shops, I will hop in a small taxi called a "four plus one." These are regular-sized cars that carry four passengers plus the driver (that's why it's called a "four plus one"!).

When I need to go anywhere that is more than a few miles away, like when I went to Quthing, I take a larger taxi. These taxis are big vans that have four rows and are supposed to seat 12 to 14 people. I say "supposed to" because usually the drivers end up cramming in 15 or 16 people! It can get very hot and crowded with all those people and their belongings piled inside. A fun fact is that many of the taxis have creative names painted on them so people can identify them! Some of my favorites that I've seen are "Mellow Yellow", "Dr. Scorpion" and "Slay Queen."

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I love exploring the mountains behind my house, and this week, Drew and I found a great spot to watch the sun set over our village. You can see the photo in the postcard at the start of this logbook!

Other Travel News from this week:

I don't have any travel news for now! I won't be traveling much until we have a week off of school for Easter. My Peace Corps friends and I are planning a trip to see the giant sand dunes in Namibia, another country in southern Africa!
