I traveled around 11 hours this week because I had to go to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The Bulgarian English Speech and Debate Tournaments (BEST) competition took place in Sofia, and Vidin is around five and a half hours away by train. I had to travel the 11-hour journey with my students over a period of three days. The train allows you to see a lot of scenery and nature.
I have been in Bulgaria since September of 2018, so I have traveled a lot so far. I have been to a lot of places, including Varna, the sea capital of Bulgaria that is on the other side of the country. The trip to Varna alone took eight hours, just one-way by train! The furthest country I have traveled to since I’ve been in Bulgaria was to Ireland, but it only took about two hours to get there by plane! It is crazy to think that I can travel thousands of miles in a shorter amount of time than it takes to get to another city in Bulgaria!
Vidin is a small town and everything is very close, so I walk everywhere. I just have to make sure to grab my umbrella for the days that it rains!
