I stayed in France all week, so the farthest I travelled from my apartment was probably about 20 miles to visit smaller towns outside of Paris, like Cergy. In the coming weeks, I will be travelling farther out to places like London, but for now I've been staying in the same area.
Ever since I arrived in Paris, I've been staying in France, not travelling more than 30 miles away from the capital. Many of my friends have been planning trips to places like London and Amsterdam, but those journeys are in the future...
A large portion of my travelling throughout my time here has been on foot, but with the colder weather I have been using busses or the metro more frequently. For longer distances I use the RER, which is a regional train system that can take me all around the Paris region, quickly.
I went to the Opera Bastille this week, which was an amazing building surrounded by a beautiful shopping area. I didn't go inside the opera house, but I saw it from the outside at night and was able to walk down the river because it flowed directly next to it.
