This week I traveled back to Wollongong from Canberra after my Fulbright orientation, then up to Sydney for the Mardi Gras parade. The ride from Canberra was 152 miles (about three hours by bus). The ride to Sydney from Woolongong is about 55 miles and takes around 90 minutes by train.
I drove around 200 miles from Vermont to Boston Logan Airport, flew 10,000 miles from Boston to Sydney (with a layover in Los Angeles) and then took the train about 60 miles from Sydney to Wollongong. The furthest I've traveled while in Australia is when flying from Sydney to Cairns to go snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. That flight was just over 1,000 miles.
I am super-lucky because the city I live in has two free buses, the 55A and 55C. These buses do regular loops around the city but in opposite directions (the A and C stand for anticlockwise/clockwise). I walk ten minutes to the bus stop to take the 55C to work, then take the 55A home. Door to door, it takes me about 25 minutes to get to work using thismode of transportation.
