Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I traveled from my village to Lomé, which is about 50km and an hour and a half drive. Otherwise I had to go to the bank in Kpalimé, which is about ten minutes from my village. So a little bit of travel, and all of this was done on bush taxis, which are just cars that drive all around a pick people up on the side of the road.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

I have traveled so much. To get here I flew across the Atlantic Ocean. Since getting here I have seen almost every region of the country, seeing the beach and the big dry sands of the central region. I have taken taxis, motorcycles and bicycles all over.

How did I get around this week?:

This week I mostly walked except for the few times I took a taxi to large cities. One taxi did break down... twice... so a 30 minute journey took nearly two hours. Another taxi eventually picked us up.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I think the capital city was the most interesting place, there is a lot to do there. While I was there very breifly, I got Indian food and went to an actual grocery store. I haven't been to a grocery store since August, I buy everything from markets and stands at my neighbors houses.
