I travel about half a mile from my house to the school where I work. I usually bike most days, which takes me about six minutes, but on days when the weather is nice, I like to walk instead. Walking usually takes me about 20 minutes. Including my trip to Belmopan, I traveled about 146 miles this week.
This one is hard to calculate, but I will try my best. I have been in Belize for almost ten months. From my home, I flew to Texas for training and then to Belize, where I hopped on a bus. From there, I took another bus to my site. Altogether, this totals around 2,180 miles (which may not be perfect, math was my least favorite subject in school!).
That said, I have also traveled as far north as the border with Mexico to a town called Corozal, while I live in the very south, so the real total distance I have traveled is definitely higher.
While living in Belize, I have a few options for getting around. It is against the rules for me to drive a car or motorcycle, so when I need to travel long distances, I usually take the bus. For shorter trips, like going to the shop or the market for food, I usually walk or ride my bike.
This week, however, I had to travel to the capital, Belmopan City.
