I stayed in Madrid this weekend, which has been a nice change of pace. I visited six countries in March alone, so I’m slowing it down this month.
The farthest I’ve traveled on this journey was to Nairobi, Kenya, in eastern Africa! I have been teaching an entrepreneurship (business) course for young women there this past year. I visited Kenya to evaluate their business pitches after many months of speaking on Zoom. Given that my family is from the neighboring countries Uganda and Tanzania, this has been one of my favorite experiences on this journey.
I get around on foot in Madrid since there is so much to see all across the city. Yesterday, I walked eight miles! I also take the metro (subway) if I’m going to class or somewhere farther away.
Parque de El Retiro (Park of the Pleasant Retreat) is one of the most interesting places I have visited. It is full of beautiful scenery and such fascinating performers. I watched a magic show, a live harp player and a juggler--all within 30 minutes!
