We bought a six-hour train ticket from Athens to Thessaloniki that ran through the night. We planned this to save us the money that would've been spent on housing for that night, but we ended up greatly compromising the quality of sleep we got that night. The train was loud, the lights were bright, and every 30 min, the speakers would L O U D L Y announce the arrival at the next station. Needless to say, we all were quite exhausted by the time we reached Thessaloniki at 6:30 in the morning.
