I traveled 70 miles this week to Kuala Ketil, Kedah, a city in the state that borders Perlis, for a day of fun games with my American English teacher friends.
In total, I have traveled over 3,800 miles! From Malaysia, I have traveled to Taipei, Taiwan (1904 miles), Bangkok, Thailand (506 miles) and Bali, Indonesia (1452 miles).
Every week, I get around by driving my white Proton Saga. Proton is a car manufacturer, just like Ford or Nissan, which is based in Malaysia. Unlike in the U.S., the steering wheel is located on the right side of the car!
The most interesting place I visited this week was Kuala Ketil, Kedah. As I was driving through Kuala Ketil, I noticed that the streets were lined with palm trees like the ones you can find in Florida.
One cool trick I learned recently for getting around unfamiliar places is to download the location’s map on the Google Maps app beforehand. For example, I was unfamiliar with Kuala Ketil, so I downloaded a map of Kuala Ketil on Google Maps before I left home so the map could be available even when I didn't have Wi-Fi!
