What main languages are spoken here?:

Around 99% of people in Colombia speak Spanish. However, Colombia is extremely diverse, which means a lot of communities also speak Amerinidian languages, or languages spoken by indigenous communities

What type of money is used here?:

Colombia’s currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). A big difference between US and Colombian currency is that money is counted in the thousands, so bills will have 20 Mil Pesos written on them, which means 20 thousand pesos. Additionally, bills are pretty colorful! There are green, blue, red, orange-y, and purple bills. Coins are also used a lot here. Although people do use credit and debit cards, generally, a lot of people use cash to pay for things like groceries, taxis or food.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water costs about 2,000 COP, which is about 50 cents in the US.

What was the best meal this week?:

This week I tried a dish from Santander, a department--also known as a state--in northern Colombia. This state is well-known for having delicious cuts of meat and different arepas. Although this was my first time trying Santanderan food, it was delicious! The dish came with beef, salad with avocado, arepas and potatoes. With it, I drank a jugo de mango, a fresh mango juice.
