I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself a little better as we start our journey together! I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and lived there until I was about eleven. After that, I lived in San Antonio, Texas, for four years and then moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where I live now (when I'm not in Colombia!). Although moving a lot can be tough, I really appreciate how it allowed me to get to know different parts of the country.
My parents are originally from Germany and moved to the U.S. in the nineties, so, although I was born in America, I also connect with many aspects of German culture. Growing up navigating two cultures is one of the reasons I have always been interested in learning about different cultures.
I graduated from Elon University this past May with majors in environmental science and Spanish and a minor in Latin American studies. What originally sparked my interest in Spanish was participating in a one-month exchange program in Argentina that was offered through my school district when I was 16. Visiting and learning about one of the world's many Spanish-speaking countries was incredibly impactful and motivated me to continue learning Spanish.
