Trying tietartiflette for the first time

Introduction:

There are so many famous dishes in France! After all, France is so well known for its cuisine around the world. During my short time here I've already tried so many new dishes which have easily became some of my favorite meals. There is something about the ingredients here - everything seems fresh -- for instance, having freshly-made baguettes on the table is a must at most French family dinners. In France, it is traditional to have a three course mea for dinner. It begins with hors d' œuvre or an entrée (usually a soup or salad). This is followed by the plat principal which is the main course. Lastly, there is dessert which is typically yogurt, pudding or fromage (cheese). I've become accustomed to this eating style, so I might just have to bring this habit back to the U.S with me. I've learned so much about the important ingredients and dishes in France and have discovered some new favorite dishes, along the way.

What food did I try?:

I had one of the best dishes so far for dinner tonight - I tried tietartiflette for the first time. I am fortunate enough that my host parents cook dinner every night, and most of the dishes they've served are all new to me. Yes, it is normal to be a little afraid when first seeing an unfamiliar dish, but I tell myself to always try it.
