Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I traveled about 100 miles this week going down to Accra and back to my community. I first took a taxi from my community to my market town and then I took a tro-tro to Koforidua, which is the capital of the eastern region. Finally, I took a van from the station down to Accra. It still takes about 4 hours because I have to wait for the taxi, tro-tros and vans to fill at each stop.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

Since I arrive in Ghana, I have travelled 1,500 miles on my journey so far. I have travelled to Ho in the Volta Region to visit my friends 3 times. I have also travelled to Techiman in the Bono-East region for our Thanksgiving celebration and down to Accra about 5 times since I've been at site.

How did I get around this week?:

I took a taxi, a tro-tro, and a mini van during this week. A tro-tro is a Sprinter van that has rows of seats in the back. On a tro-tro, there is normally someone called a mate who collects the fare from passengers and tells the driver when to stop for people to get off and on.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

This past week I went to Accra, which is the capital of Ghana. Accra is an incredibly international city where you can find anything you may need.
