Hello! My name is Abby Salamone and I’m 22 years old. I was born in Buffalo, New York, and grew up in Lancaster, which is about 15 minutes outside of the city. Since I have four other siblings, two older sisters, an older brother and a younger brother, we have always had a full house. I’ve played sports since I was young, and I actually continued playing volleyball until I graduated from college.
During my first year of college, I took an Anthropology class that got me interested in learning about other cultures that are different from my own. After I decided to make Anthropology my major, I quickly realized a huge part of studying other cultures is also learning their languages, so I decided to study Chinese at my school in addition to Anthropology. I was lucky enough to travel to India during my junior year and even learn a little bit of Hindi, too! In order to practice my Chinese, I went on two short-term study abroad trips during my senior year to different places in China. By this time, I was hooked on travelling. I love going to new places, meeting new people, trying their foods and learning different languages. My school and my experiences abroad have made me realize there’s always something new to discover!
