A Little Fun in The Sun

Phuket Thailand
Journal Entry:

If I could describe this week in one word, it would be ANIMALS! This week was filled with exciting events that revolved around nature and wildlife. This week, I went to the zoo and traveled to Phuket, Thailand. It may only seem like two events, but many interesting activities came along with these trips!

First, I went to the zoo. I traveled with a few of my friends from my program. The zoo was in Bangkok about 19 miles from where I am living. When we arrived there, it did not look like a zoo at all. The entrance was between two gas stations along the highway. It took us about 15 minutes to realize that this was the entrance!

Surprisingly, the zoo was expensive! It was 600 Baht per person! That is 20 U.S. dollars and, usually, things are much cheaper in Thailand. In addition, there was no one at the zoo! My friends and I seemed to be the only people there until we heard that everyone was at the crocodile wrestling show! Yes, CROCODILE WRESTLING!

When we heard about this, we rushed to the crocodile pool. We stood above the ring as the wrestlers and crocodiles moved below us. At this event, we saw many people and were greeted nicely. The people of Thailand very rarely see Americans, so when we arrived, everyone wanted to take pictures with us. They were so nice, but I wanted to see the crocodile wrestling, so we cut the photoshoot a little short!
