"I like to read mystery novels! They are very interesting, I am currently finishing one book now."
Sister Miyake: "Japanese, and こにちは!(Konichiwa)."
Me: "English too, right?"
Sister Miyake: "No, no, only Japanese."
Me: "But we're speaking English right now, and a lot of the conversation has been in English."
Sister Miyake: "I am not confident in my English speaking abilities, so I don't always say I speak English, but all sisters under the Notre Dame umbrella must speak English so we can communicate with all of our sisters across the world."
"No pets are allowed in the convent, but when I was in seminary a stray wandered to us on New Years Day. We called him New-Chan, that was the only pet I ever had."
"I have been to the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe, Italy, France, Belgium, Britain and the Philippines. Usually, I travel to meet with other congregations of nuns, and different sisters across the world."
Sister Miyake has many roles and so I asked her: "What do you feel is your most important job?" She responded; "My most important job is to create and foster a good global learning community here at Seishin. It is important to remember to continually broaden your horizon in the world. Here at Seishin, we try to accomplish that every day."
