Getting around Rehovot & Israel

They look like normal bikes but have a battery attached to them!

However, when traveling outside of Rehovot, I usually prefer to take the train. It is a bit faster, but I like it because it is just more comfortable. The train is a super efficient way to get around most of the country. You can take it to the major cities and even down to Beer Sheva, a city in the middle of the Negev Desert.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Taking the bus around Rehovot is an interesting adventure. When the buses come on time, it's a good experience! We use an app on our phones called Moovit, which gives us the bus schedules. However, sometimes the buses do not follow the schedule at all, which can be a bit frustrating. Depending on where in the city you are going, the buses can be super efficient or can take a while. For example, taking the bus to the train station only takes ten minutes, which is amazing! However, when I come home from the train station at night, the buses usually only run once every hour, so missing the bus can be annoying. Additionally, it takes only about ten to 15 minutes to get to the school where I teach by car, but on the bus it takes about 45 minutes. Not the worst but not the best!

We also have an app we use for taxis. Uber is not popular in Israel, as it is only used in Tel Aviv as far as I know. Here, we have Gett. Gett is similar to Uber, but it only connects you to cars that are registered taxis in Israel. We use an app to schedule our ride and pay for it.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Every Friday afternoon and Saturday the public transportation shuts down because of Shabbat.
