The weather this week was warm, with sunshine almost every morning. It also rained almost every day in the afternoon. That’s to be expected - it is monsoon season! India has three seasons: summer, winter and monsoon. During the monsoon season, it usually rains every day for a few hours. Monsoon season lasts from July through September, so the rain should be stopping soon.
Since I live in a large city, I don’t see much wildlife during the week. There are many stray dogs in the city, though, and there are a couple near my campus. They’re very friendly. This week, in addition to the stray dogs, I saw three species of honey bees and a cobra. It was exciting to see the honey bees since I’ll be doing research with them in the coming weeks. But the cobra was even more exciting. I’ve never seen such a large snake in the wild before!
