In Eastern Nepal, Nepali is the most common spoken langauge. Other regional languages may be spoken, as well; such as Maithili, Limbu and Rai. The airport where I flew into, Biratnagar, is very close to the border of Northern India, so some people also speak Indian languages, too. There are many different languages spoken!
In Nepal the main currency is the Nepalese rupee (NPR). One US dollar (USD) equals about 141 NPR. Most people use paper money here. Coins are not used very often.
At a local shop, a bottle of water costs about 40 NPR. So I could buy three and a half water bottles with $1.00 USD.
At the hotel where I stayed, my breakfast included two eggs, chicken sausage, puri (a fried indian flat bread), tarkari (curry), beans and potato, apple, pear and oatmeal! I think it was my best breakfast in Nepal so far. Puri is one of my favorite things to eat at home with chole (chickpea curry), but I had never eaten it for breakfast before.
