I have still been speaking Spanish in Madrid. This week, I have been fortunate enough to meet people from different places who have spoken to me in different languages. I heard Romanian, Italian and Norwegian.
Madrid is now known to be a city full of international cuisine because many people live here from different countries. Recently, I tried bao (an Asian food item that resembles a sandwich). The bread is steamed making it very soft. It is filled with chicken, celery, Hoisin sauce and greens. I have had it three times this week because of how incredible they taste. I will be back for more!
This week I listened to Spanish music again. I am doing my best to assimilate into the culture. Music is one of those things that everyone loves, which makes it a great topic of conversation in Spain. Whenever I engage in conversation with a new Spaniard, I converse about the music.
This week I participated in a tour of the city of Madrid. I really enjoyed it because there was a group of students giving us a tour. They have lived here for many years and were able to offer their own perspectives and experiences about life in Madrid. We walked around main landmarks in the city.
