It is a must-have dessert that everyone tries when traveling to Portugal. The most famous location to have this is in the city of Belem in a restaurant called Pasteis de Belem. These pastries only cost 1€ (euro) and taste like heaven.
You all know by now how much I love Latin Music, but I took a five day break from it and only listened to Portuguese music during my visit to Portugal. I am not sure if I exactly like their music, but I found it so cool and interesting and could not stop listening to it!
The most fun cultural activity I did was the three hour walking tour of Lisbon, Portugal. Our tour guide was very young and full of knowledge. I learned a lot about the history in Portugal, local stories and many interesting facts. For example, I learned that Portugal is the only country in Europe that has a beach in the capital which is Lisbon. Also, carnations (flowers) are a symbol of the carnation revolution which was a bloodless war that freed Portugal from a dictatorship in 1974.
In Portugal, I struggled to read Portuguese on the restaurant menus. The good news is, oftentimes it was similar to Spanish or it was translated into English, so I was able to read it. My midterm exams are this week, so I am also reading mostly in Spanish from my books and notes to prepare for my exams.
