The Catholic Church is very influential in Ireland with 78% of the population identifying as Catholic. Yet, the influence has lessened as the Church has received some controversy throughout the years. However, Catholicism has still remained very prevalent in Ireland.

The answer may vary depending on who you ask. The Church is still a large influence for the older generations, but not so much for the younger generations here. For instance, there has been a notable decrease in mass attendance among the younger generations in Ireland.
