Blarney's Castle was beautiful, but I also saw a lot of nature during my visit. There were many different gardens including a poisonous garden, fern tree garden and an Irish garden.
The poisonous garden had plants that were considered dangerous! Some of the plants were kept in little cages so visitors wouldn't touch them. There was one particular plant, Mandragora officinarum, that was kept in a cage and it was very small. It had leaves that looked like lettuce. See my photos!
It was interesting how such a small plant could be so dangerous! Would you want to visit a garden full of poisonous plants?
Mandragora officinarum is native to southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean.
The plant must be fully facing the sun and be placed in a light soil for survival.
What can be harmful to this plant is if people want to move the plant to a different location because the roots do not like being moved. However, I am worried about what the plant can do to people if consumed.
