Hello everyone in Ms. Jaffe's class! I'm so happy to share the stories of my Aussie (Australian) adventure with you.
To start, I'll tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in a small town in Iowa where I was surrounded by never-ending cornfields and farmland. My four brothers and I spent a lot of time running around our own farm, riding horses, picking mulberries, and, of course, doing a few chores too. As much as I enjoyed nature and having a huge open space to play in, even as a little kid, I was always drawn to the city. I think that part of the reason that I imagined the city would be so great was because of my interest in art. I knew that if I wanted my own paintings to hang in a museum someday, I would have to encounter and thrive in a city sooner or later.
I finally got the chance to experience city life when I was accepted to study fine arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have enjoyed my time in Chicago a lot, and the art museums there are ace (Australian slang for excellent)! I no longer have the goal of showing my own artworks in museums though, as my interests have changed to art therapy.
