I traveled to Santo Domingo, the capital of the DR, which is about 60 kilometers away from my town and a two to three-hour trip on the guagua (public bus).
The farthest I've traveled in the DR has been to the southern town of Azua, which is about 160 kilometers away from my town, and a six to eight-hour trip on the guagua.
This week, I've traveled on guaguas, Ubers and on foot.
The most interesting place that I visited this week was the patronales (festival) in my friend's town, about eight miles away from my house. There was music, food and about 50 horseback riders! People dress up and ride their horses up and down the street to show off their skills.
