On my trip to Enoshima, which is known as an island for lovers, there was a Buddhist Garden filled with many plants. The one that stuck out the most to me was the infamous red spider lily.
The life cycle of this plant is interesting because when it blooms, the leaves have already fallen off. Meanwhile, when the leaves are growing back, the flower has already wilted. Thus, the most famous appearance of the plant is its red color and its tentacle-like features.
When I saw it, I could not help but feel captivated by it. It looked different from all the other plants in the garden; it was growing by itself in the middle of the garden without a clear reason for being planted there. I felt as if it wanted to grow there, on its own; but it was beautiful.
The plant is native to Asia and, because of its history with graveyards, it still grows there. It likes the sun and a bit of a shady area to live in.
