Japan Railways: Japan's Amazing Trains

However, everything has symbols like arrows, and the train maps are color coded so you know which train you are on. When I took the Shinkansen for the first time, I was surprised by how clean and spacious it was. They even have vending machines and clean toilets for people to use on board.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

The trains are connected to the culture and environment of Japan. The trains are above ground, so the tracks cut across cities, towns and other urban enviornments. Thus, cities have railroad crossings so people and cars have to stop to let the trains pass by. Also, because of how popular trains are, it is good for the enviornment as it means less CO2 is released by cars, since trains can move a lot more people. This is especially true of the Shinkansen; it is able to carry a lot of people for long distance making it a better option (for the environment) than cars. You can also see the beuatiful scenary without having to worry about traffic or driving!
