Hi, students! My name is Bria, and here’s one fun fact about my life that I consistently tell everyone I meet: I’ve wanted to be a screenwriter since the fourth grade. In high school, I created a film club, where my teachers invested in my future by getting me The Screenwriter’s Bible. I was encouraged to learn structure, formatting, and plotting. I took my research a step further by watching foreign films from Europe and Asia. My favorite is a historical Korean drama series known as Mr. Sunshine (미스터 선샤인) which covered a timeline leading up to the Russo-Japanese War. It was a fictional romantic story woven into the struggles of societal and territorial battles during the 19th century. This media piece was one of many to fuel my fascination about how film could portray an unlimited amount of information about different societies and cultures. I found it so awesome, that when I applied to college I studied Modern Languages and Linguistics. It became a dream of mine to visit as many places as I can and experience the cultures for myself. In my freshman year, I even studied abroad in South Korea for a month in the summer. That was only the start of my traveler’s journey.
Waiting for the next perfect opportunity to come along, I began to grow, discovering myself and my faith.
