Our News

After we had finished, we all sat on their patio and the children took turns singing Arabic folk songs for us and doing recitations from the Qur'an, the Islamic holy book.

What did I read this week?:

I read about Ghassan Kanafani, the Palestinian liberation activist who was killed along with his niece in their car by an Israeli bomb. He is an incredibly important figure in the Arab world, and his literary works have been translated into sixteen different languages.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I played a traditional Arabic children's game with some of the orphans that involves marbles. The players take turns flicking them from a distance and the first one to reach a hole in the cement wins.

Other news from this week:

Jordan has sent another plane to Lebanon, to provide humanitarian aid to those suffering desperately from the ongoing Israeli bombardment.
