When I first moved to Barranquilla, nothing confused me more than the bus system! There are so manydifferent types of buses. The buses are all different colors and all have different names on the side like Costa Azul, Cooliteral, Coochotransito Puerto Colombia, and so many more!
Most people in Barranquilla, Colombia get to places they want to go using the bus system. It is a bit different here because there isn't really one unified bus system. There are many many different bus companies that all have different routes throughout the city. Sometimes I know I need to look for a yellow bus and sometimes I need to look for a green or a blue one. There isn't a written bus schedule, so people already all know where they're going! This makes it hard for a new person. I ask people around me for help with the buses almost daily. Everyone has been very nice to me!
In the buses here, the driver packs as many people on the buses as possible. Sometimes a bus will pull up to my stop absolutely packed full of people and I think that there is no way that I will fit on. But the driver is always able to squish more people onto the buses even when they seem completely full! I enjoy riding the bus here, but sometimes I wish the experience were a little less squished!
