Since moving to Spain, I have been able to try many different Spanish foods. One main dish that they have in Spain a lot is tortilla. This is basically a Spanish omlet with eggs and potatoes. Another dish is called patatas bravas. These are little cubed potatoes with an orange-colored, spicy sauce with a white garlic sauce drizzled on top. I say "spicy sauce", but not a lot of things in Europe are actually very spicy. A lot of their food is pretty plain with a few spices cooked into it. For dessert, you can find many great pastry shops around Madrid! My favorite pastry is called a Napolitana and it's a croissant with chocolate filling in the middle. I love to eat chocolate and, lucky for me, there are many places to find this favorite food around Spain! Another thing that I have noticed is that a huge portion of the Spanish food diet is potatoes and bread. Here in Spain they eat a lot of carbs with their meals and not as many vegetables as we might be used to seeing. One Spanish dish that has a lot of different spices that I will be talking about more in depth is Paella.
