Furthermore, the government has recently integrated a cheap rental bike system into its Metro line, which allows locals to check out a bike for up to an hour at the same cost as a subway ticket. On Sundays, between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., main roads in downtown Medellín are closed to most non-emergency vehicles so that citizens can enjoy a chance to ride a bike or walk peacefully through streets that would otherwise be full of traffic on weekdays. I still have yet to take part in this weekly event, called Ciclovía, but I definitely want to check it out sometime soon!
