In Morocco, you can find a WIDE variety of food! My host family cooks a lot of traditional dishes, but when I miss American food, there are options around my school!
In my homestay, it is very common for them to cook tagine, which is a traditional dish in Morocco. It usually consists of slow cooking the meat and vegetables inside. The dish that it is cooked in is also called a tagine! My favorite is the chicken tagine. This is a very common dish here, but something that almost all Moroccans eat on Fridays is called couscous. Couscous is made of small little balls of wheat.
I loved both of these traditional dishes! I think that they mix the best amount of meat and vegetables with a lot of flavors. When I arrived in Morocco, it was the first time that I ever tried these dishes. It is a big change from what I am used to eating back in the U.S.
I don't know how these dishes are cooked. They are usually already cooked when I get back from school, but, this Wednesday, I will be taking a cooking class to learn more!
