This past week has been hectic... I'll be ready for a good rest after all this. It has also been very productive! I have meetings non-stop and created three partnerships with some strong associations that will help me with more contacts and resources for workshops and projects in Sidi Sliman and Kenitra.
I just ended my final day of Arabic tutoring, completing my six-month Critical Language Enhancement Award (CLEA) and my time in Rabat. Now, my nine-month Fulbright U.S. Student Scholar Research Grant has kicked in for the transition to Tameslouht and the beginning of workshops, research and projects that I have been preparing during my CLEA.
I have come down to Tameslouht, a four-and-a-half hour train ride, to set up my new apartment in my second hometown. The apartment has four rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom in the apartment! It is costs less than one-third of the price of my little apartment in Rabat! While here, I will also begin the process of getting my 10-year Moroccan residency card. This will allow me to stay here and not have to get my tourist visa passport renewed every three months. It will also allow me to establish a local Moroccan association branch of my NGO.
