The Ease of Public Transit in Morocco

4) Tramway: These slick new trams are a convenient way to get around within the city. There is rarely a wait over 14 minutes. They are located in only Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier. A one-way ticket is 8MAD.

5) Kar (like Greyhound buses): These are also used to go between cities and towns, trips can range between one hour to 22 hours. The quality of the bus can vary. There are two major companies (Supratours and CTM), but if you simply go to the bus station you will hop on the next available one. [30MAD - 220MAD]

6) Qitar (train): The train is a pleasant ride with lines extending to Tangier in the north, Marrakech to the south, and Oujda in the west. The prices are usually the same as the buses, except lately there has been construction going on for a new direct line train that skips the smaller stops. This has caused massive delays and increase in price depending on the time of day. It has gotten better, though. They have even began remodeling the major train stations, which look really good.

7) Matar (Airplane): Aside from the big airports in Casablanca and Marrakech, there are smaller airports located throughout the country that are actually cheaper or the same as taking a bus or the train! Another benefit is the close proximity to Europe. Through cheap flight services such as RyanAir, you can get a flight to Europe for as little as 100MAD! I have never done this because I have yet to have very much extra income while living here (bills), but the opportunity is there!

8) Alaabara (Ferry): This is available if you want to cross the Strait of Gibraltar from Tangier to Spain. I have never done this but it costs about 300MAD and takes three hours.
