This week I went to a music venue with my Belgian friend Isabel in Antwerp. The venue played indie rock music, mostly from the 1990s. It was amazing to see how many Belgians sang along to mostly American and British songs. Isabel explained that most of the musical influence in Belgium comes from the U.S.A. and Britain, and that explains why all the hits that I knew were ones she also knew.
This week I have been reading "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood. This is a classic novel from 1985, and takes place in a dystopian (or negative) future. I don't know much yet about the story, since I have just started the book, but the writing is very clear and vivid, which I really like.
