I travelled to Antwerp, which is a one-and-a-half hour train ride from Hasselt! Antwerp is known for its large shopping districts and has all the popular brands like Gucci, Guess, and more. This city is also world-famous for its diamonds. You can tell that this is true just by walking the streets and seeing how many diamond shops there are! As my friend Isabel said, Antwerp also has the oldest and most beautiful train station in Belgium. This large cathedral-sized station has marble statues and stained glass art - quite the introduction to the city!
So far, the longest I have traveled is still Paris to Hasselt, which was the journey I made when I first moved to Europe. This week, I will be making the journey to London, the capital of The United Kingdom. It is funny to think that, if I were making this trip after March next year, it would be my first time out of the European Union since I arrived in September! But for now, at least, the U.K. remains a part of the E.U!
I was able to take the Belgian railway to Antwerp. The journey was very peaceful, and we passed through large areas of farmland on our way to the city. Since fall is starting to take shape here in Belgium, it was so nice to see orange, yellow and red trees along my journey.
