Trying a Typical German Snack: Schnitzel in a Double Bread Roll

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Before coming to Germany, I had heard that Germans eat a lot of meat ,but in the United States I think we eat a lot of meat as well, so I was not expecting to see a huge difference between meat-eating habits in both countries. However, after being in Germany for only a month, I feel that while Germans do eat a lot of meat, they eat a greater diversity of meat than I have seen in the United States.  For one thing, I have noticed that most people here buy their meat from shops that specifically sell meat as opposed to buying their meat from large food stores that sell just about everything. Additionally, in the shops here, there are a million different kinds of sausages and salami. Even if I knew all of the names, I would not be able to remember all of the different nuances of flavor. The people who work in the shops clearly know so much about where their meat comes from, which is both very reassuring and inspiring!
