German is the main language spoken here, but because we are so close to France, French is also spoken a bit in the city. There is also a Saarlandische dialect of German which the locals sometimes use.
Euros (€) are the common currency here because Germany is part of the European Union.
A 1 liter bottle of water costs about .50€. This is equivalent to abut 60 cents.
The best meal this week was not eaten in Saarbrucken. It was actually when I took a day trip to Strasbourg, right across the border in France. We ate Flammenkuchen, a speciality from that region, which is a very thin pizza often with cream, onions, and diced bacon on top. It was cooked really quickly and was so delicious.
I listened to my German playlist and my Musical playlist. My two favorites from each are: "Unerreichbar" (Madsen), "80 Millionen" (Max Giesinger), Non-Stop (Hamilton), and "A Million Dreams" (The Greatest Showman).
