Students study similar subjects to students in the US: history, math and science. Instead of English, students have Bahasa Indonesia class, but they often do learn English in school as well.
Homework is not as common in Indonesia. Sometimes students have take-home exercises, but not all the time.
After school, kids usually go home to hang out with their family and maybe help their parents with some chores or at work on the farm. A favorite game that is also played after school a lot is badminton. You usually see this game played on weekends, but also sometimes after school.
One kid I talked to said his favorite famous person was Johnny Depp. He said he thought it was so crazy how many movies he was in and how many totally different characters he played.
It is common for kids to listen to K-pop, pop, some punk music and R&B. Parents also often try to make kids learn traditional instruments and listen to traditional music. Some of the kids I talked to loved this. Others did not.
