Today, it is the home of a Benedictine monastery. Upon walking through the castle, I was amazed by the oppulence of each of the rooms! On the estate, you can also find Sr. Genevieve's Chocolate Kitchen, where chocolates are handmade by the Benedictine nuns. You can even purchase the chocolates in the gift shop!
On the way back from Connemara, I stopped in a small seaside village known as Spiddal. Spiddal is another example of a Gaeltacht area. In particular, it is known for Colaiste Chonnacht, a camp where Irish students come to become fluent in the Irish language, as well as to learn more about Irish traditions and culture.
